WHAT IS
HANYANG MODEL UNITED NATIONS?

Picture
Hanyang Model United Nations (HMUN) is an annual Model United Nations conference held at Hanyang University, designed for domestic middle and high school students. Organized by the Secretariat, a student-run body, HMUN operates under the guidance and support of the Hanyang University School of International Studies. The conference aims to provide delegates with opportunities to engage in the rapidly evolving landscape of global politics and technology, and to simulate policy negotiations as representatives of UN member states.
Hanyang Model United Nations (HMUN) strives to accomplish the following goals:

Continuous Improvement of Conference Quality
Achieve consistent enhancement of the conference’s quality through a meticulous selection of Chairs and Staff within Hanyang University, coupled with effective intervention and management by the Secretariat.

Engagement with Experts
Invite experts, including professors from the Hanyang University School of International Studies, to lead workshops and participate in the official conference. This will strengthen the delegates’ understanding of the topics under discussion.

Fostering Interest in Global Issues
Promote the interests and expertise of Hanyang University students and high school participants in international affairs. Encourage the balance between national interests and the needs of the global community.

Implementation of the THIMUN Format
Successfully integrate the THIMUN format into the conference procedures to facilitate productive discussions and the drafting of resolutions by delegates.
THIMUN format encourages delegates to prepare and bring pre-written resolutions to the committee room, unlike the UNA-USA format, which strictly prohibits pre-written resolution papers.

Introductory Sessions for Participants
Hold orientation sessions to provide participants with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the conference rules and acquire the background knowledge necessary for effective international negotiations.

Networking Opportunities
Organize events, such as the Banquet, to foster networking among students from the School of International Studies, professors, and high school participants, enhancing collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
